Gov’t told to put campaigns, elections behind them and foster peace and unity

This year’s Christmas celebrations come after three years of challenges that had faced the country under the Jubilee administration.

Catholic Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Mombasa Martin Kivuva said the the country had been hard hit by the COVID 19 pandemic.

He added that the country was also faced with tension during the transitional general election held in August 9.

“This year’s Christmas celebrations come after three years of challenges that had faced the county,” he pointed out.

Kivuva said the general election came and went and the country is now focusing on the revival of the economy to forge ahead in development.

He was addressing journalists during this year’s Christmas service held at the Holy Ghost Cathedral in Mombasa County.

The Catholic Archbishop said there is urgent need for peace and unity after the tension of elections which were held in a peaceful environment.    

Kivuva, who is also the Kenya Catholic Church Bishops [KCCB] chairman, said in his Christmas message that elected leaders have a healing process to undergo as there are also those who lost during the general election.

He urged politicians to put campaigns, elections and the results behind them and foster peace and unity.

“Let the politicians put politics aside for the sake of development and revival of the country’s economy,” he emphasized.
