International airlines are gearing to resume flights in and out of Kenya, following President Uhuru Kenyatta’s directive for international flights to resume from 1st August 2020.

Emirates has scheduled a repatriation flight on Tuesday, 28th July 2020 (today) from Nairobi to Dubai at 1615 hrs.

British Airways will resume flights in and out of Kenya with effect from 1st August 2020. The airline will operate four weekly flights; on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

KLM will resume on 3rd August 2020, operating four weekly flights; Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Qatar Airways will also resume on 3rd August 2020, operating 14 weekly flights, “subject to regulatory approval.”

Air France will resume on 6th August 2020, operating one flight to Paris every Friday

Meanwhile, Kenya Airways will drop direct flights to the US and China upon resumption of international flights, while reducing the frequency to some destinations until the demand picks up, which is not expected for at least 18 months.

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) in its financial outlook last month said airlines could post a -20.1% profit margin this year, losing KSh8.5 trillion.
