Kenyans Urged To Support Needy Students

Kenyans have been called upon to support needy and bright students who come from humble backgrounds.

This was highlighted by a not for profit organisation, the Kenya Education Fund during its Annual General Meeting held on Saturday.

Kenya Education Fund is an NGO that gives bright financially challenged students full high school scholarships in Kenya. This is after a rigorous application process.

“We started with just one student in 2001, merged with likeminded organisations and grew KEF to the organization that it is today. This highlighted KEF supplementary programs – life skills workshops, school visits, career readiness, entrepreneurship workshops, Mentorship and Internships. KEF transition rate is 90% which we attribute to our auxiliary programs which takes up 72% of our resources,” said Dominic Muasya is the Country Director of KEF.

To supplement KEF’s efforts, the Alumni Association is now sponsoring students through high school which is a testimony to the cycles of poverty broken through KEF.

Benter Odongo, the Kenya Education Fund Alumni Association’s secretary called upon well wishers to see to it that education is accessible by all students since it’s the key to life.

So far KEF has educated more than 3,600 students in Kenya and hopes to increase this number exponentially.

Kenya Education Fund connects with its beneficiaries with opportunities relevant to them after the scholarship has ended such as higher learning scholarships, internships and jobs.
