Maendeleo ya Wanawake has come out to show support and good will to the President Elect Dr William Samoei Ruto whose victory was confirmed by the Supreme Court on Monday.

Led by Chairlady Rahab Muiu, the organisation pledged full support to the Administration of His Excellency Dr William Ruto.

In a statement, the Chairlady said,

“Today on behalf of MYWO Board, the Patron, the four million members, and on my own behalf and that of my family, I congratulate H.E The President Elect Dr. Hon. William Ruto.  Sir, my Board is made up of 58 members and 17 members from Rift Valley Region and it is my call to you that as we move on find it in your heart to work with all Kenyans of goodwill; those who supported you, those who didn’t, those who joined you on 15th August 2022 and those who are joining you today.  Sir you are now a Symbol of Unity in Kenya!”

The Chairlady also urged the President elect to embrace the other contestants including Raila Amolo Odinga who unsuccessfully vied on the Azimio alliance.

Sir, over 6,942,193M voters did cast their vote otherwise and it is my sincere prayer that you find it in your heart to embrace them and mostly importantly find it befitting to embrace the 1st Family of Kenya (H.E. Mama Ngina Kenyatta) who I clearly remember prayed for you Sir and H.E. President Kenyatta when there was a case in the Hague.  Sir besides you there is Her Excellency Rachel Ruto who we know is a prayer warrior and together you will find room in your hearts to embrace the family of outgoing President, the family of H.E. Mzee Moi and the Family of Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga.

Once again I want reiterate that MYWO works with the government of the day, and therefore commit to support you and your government and to work very closely with you in empowering women at the grassroots.”
