Moi County Referral Hospital in Voi, Taita Taveta County was Thursday closed indefinitely for an unspecified period after eight staff members tested positive for the novel Covid-19.

In a statement sent to newsrooms on Thursday, the hospital’s Director of Health Services Elvis Mwandawiro says the hospital was closed in a bid to prevent the spread of the disease in the hospital.

Mwandawiro also says that fumigation will be conducted at the County Health facility and that only one Operation Theater will be operational to deal with special services.

The director adds that all the male wards will be completely shut down and asks patients to seek alternative services at other hospitals.
