ODM Women League express confidence with Tanzanian new President

Orange democratic Party (ODM) women league have expressed confidence with the newly installed Tanzanian President Mama Samia Suluhu.

The Women League led by ODM women president Hon. Beth Mutunga Syengo,nominated Senator Agnes Zani and her Migori counterpart Denitta Ghati. said Samia’s elevation to lead Tanzania will inspire and motivate young girls across the continent.

“President Suluhu’s ascension to the highest office in Tanzania will serve to inspire young girls across the continent. We look up to her to shatter the glass ceiling for women and motivate those who come after her to pursue careers in public service and to offer themselves for positions of leadership”.

Addressing the media yesterday at a Nairobi Hotel, ODM women President said they are ready to work and support the new Tanzanian head of state.

“We join the womenfolk of the East Africa region in expressing our confidence in Mama Suluhu’s leadership credentials and her ability to steer Tanzania into a new era from where the dearly departed President John Magufuli left off ” the ODM women president said.

She went on to add “Tanzania continues to exhibit notable gender parity and representation both in elective and appointive leadership roles.This demonstrates a determined commitment to promote the interests of women. Her citizens can be proud of president Magufuli’s legacy of believing and trusting in a woman to hold the office of Vice President”

Other ODM women League leaders included Likoni legislator Hon.Mishi Mboko, Hon Millie Odhiambo, Hon. Amida Kibwana, and Professor Jackie Odour among others.

Senator Ghati said Suluhu’s elevation is a win win for women leadership in the region adding that the disabled will also support and rally behind the new Tanzanian leader.
