Oparanya fires his deputy from lucrative agriculture post

Kakamega: Governor Wycliffe Oparanya has reshuffled his Executive Committee to enhance effective service delivery.

While addressing media at the County Headquarters, he announced that he has amalgamated Finance and Planning docket with ICT, e-Government and Communication into Finance, Planning and ICT to be headed by Dr Beatrice Sabana.

Mr Geoffrey Omulayi was moved from Finance to Roads, Energy and Public Works.

The Governor appointed former chairperson of County Public Service Board Ms Rodah Masaviru as the CECM in charge of Public Service and Administration.

Dr Collins Matemba is the new CECM for Health Services taking over from Madam Rachel Okumu who was transferred to Agriculture docket.

Fanuel Kulati Wangia made a come back to the Executive as the new CECM for Water, Environment and Natural Resources.

Other changes made are: Kassim Were from Trade to Social Services, Youth and Culture while Dr George Lutomia will be in charge of Education, Science and Technology.

Mr Alfred Matianyi will be the new CECM for Trade while Robert Makhanu will be at the Lands, Housing and Urban Areas department.

Two CECMs: Joseph Indire (Education) and John Barasa (Water) will now be the Chief Executive Officers of Kakamega County Investments and Development Agency and Kakamega County Microfinance Corporation respectively.

“The changes take effect immediately and the Deputy Governor Prof Philip Kutima will oversee the handing over exercise within one week,” said Oparanya.
