Pwani Oil, Lions Medical Centre Hosts a Free Medical Camp to Promote Good Health for All in Kilifi

Pwani Oil in partnership with Lions Medical centre has conducted an eye care medical camp in Kikambala, Mombasa County.

At least 809 people received eye care medical counsel while another 36 underwent a cataract operation from a team of over 20 doctors present from Lions Medical centre.

Speaking during the camp, Pwani Oil Commercial Director Rajul Malde said, “We are excited to be supporting this worthy cause that will benefit all the stakeholders and the community at large”.

The camp, sponsored by Pwani Oil, is in line with its mission to refine the lives of the community they serve. This is over and above other great initiatives that the company has undertaken over the years

Among the medical benefits extended to the community and Pwani Oil staff during the medical camp include ENT, Eye & General Screening, Diabetic screening, Blood pressure check, and Cataract Surgery. Beneficiaries who required reading glasses were given at a subsidized retail price of KES 150.

At least 326 people received eye care medical counsel while another 36 underwent a cataract operation at Lions Medical Centre, 48 reading glasses were dispensed, 403 general medical cases were seen and given treatment, 78 ENT patients, 74 for diabetes and 34 for malaria patients were also seen and treated.

In his remarks, Lions Medical Centre Dr, Vinesh Vaghela said “We thank Pwani Oil for choosing to partner with us in making a difference within this community. We are strong believers in the gift of sight and we believe that through such affordable eye care initiatives we can be able to eliminate preventable and treatable blindness through and ultimately restore dignity and the power to be more productive among our brothers and sisters”.

Since 2007, Pwani Oil has been operating its modern state-of-the-art factory at Kikambala, Kilifi which has since expanded, boasting of a capacity to refine over 1000 metric tonnes of oil a day, prepared to the highest international standards.

In addition, the production facility at Kikambala has impacted the washing and cleaning industry with excellent laundry and bathing soaps, of the highest quality hence improving customer experience. The factory has created direct and indirect jobs for the community.
