Uhuru commissions a number of projects in Mombasa
Accompanied by Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho and Transport Cabinet Secretary James Macharia amongst other government officials, the President commissioned the local assembly of Proton Saga saloon cars at the Associated Vehicle Assemblers (AVA) in Miritini, Mombasa County.

President Uhuru Kenyatta today commissioned a number of projects in Mombasa County.
Accompanied by Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho and Transport Cabinet Secretary James Macharia amongst other government officials, the President commissioned the local assembly of Proton Saga saloon cars at the Associated Vehicle Assemblers (AVA) in Miritini, Mombasa County.
The President applauded Simba Corporation, the Proton franchise holder in Kenya, and all other assemblers for supporting the Government agenda to revive the local vehicle assembly industry to support wealth and employment creation for the Kenyan youth.
President Kenyatta also commissioned the construction of the Kshs 4.5 billion Makupa Bridge in Mombasa County.
When complete in January 2022, the four-lane over-sea bridge will replace the 1929 Makupa Causeway, paving the way for its demolition and restoration of the ecosystem in the area including free flow of water and marine life.
Speaking to residents of the area and project staff, the President reiterated the Government’s commitment to continue rolling out transformative development projects across the country. At the same time, the Head of State encouraged Kenyans to support the BBI constitutional reform process saying the initiative is aimed at crafting a more United and progressive Kenya.
