Wote policewoman who allegedly slashed a lawyer’s hand to remain in custody

A police woman, Nancy Njeri, who allegedly chopped off a lawyer’s hand using a machete in unclear circumstances in Wote, Makueni County on Thursday, will remain in custody for 14 days as investigations continue into the case 

Njeri was on Friday arraigned before Senior Resident Magistrate Caroline Ocharo in Machakos Court.

The case could not be presented at a Makueni court as the suspect’s life was said to be in danger because of agitated residents who are still baying for her blood.

The court directed that the suspected be remanded at Wote Police Station in Makueni as she awaits completion of the investigation.

Njeri, who is stationed at Makueni Police Station in Wote, is accused of slashing the hands of Advocate Onesmus Masaku at his house on October 7, 2020.

The lawyer is receiving treatment at the Kenyatta National Hospital where he was transferred to from Makueni Hospital.

The case will be mentioned on October 23, 2020.
